To whom it may concern

I first met Ian in 2007 when he was working with the Yamatji Land and Sea Council, and I had just listed BC Iron Limited.  He was a tremendous help in organising a heritage survey with the Palyku People at very short notice.  On top of this, Cyclone George had just cut a swath through the area and Ian worked hard to bring our TOs to site and get the job done.

When he left YLSC, I immediately hired him to work for us at BC Iron and I was not disappointed.  He is a very hard worker and not afraid of going bush to do whatever needed doing.  He developed very strong bonds with the TOs and was able to bring them along as our project grew.  I know firsthand that they respected Ian very much, and importantly, they trusted him to do the right thing.  Ian was very good at organising and carrying out the survey and hertiage work we required in a timely manner.

I strongly recommend Ian for your heritage needs and I shall use him again.

I worked with Ian Williamson while engaged as a consultant to BC Iron, and we conducted numerous ethnographic and significance assessment surveys together in the Pilbara between 2010 and 2015. Ian was an easy-going but professional client representative, providing clear instructions and background material for job briefs, and solid support in the field.

He is well liked by Traditional Owners as a result of his down-to-earth and approachable demeanour, and at all times made sure everyone remained safe and that survey team morale was maintained, and that survey objectives were delivered. Ian's unique style allows him to bridge the gap that often exists between mining proponents and Traditional Owners with ease, creating an environment where practical solutions can be found to heritage management issues.
